Canada-UK semiconductor partnership opportunity
Visit to the UK
The High Commission of Canada to the U.K., in partnership with Innovate UK and TechWorks, invites you to meet a group of R&D-intensive semiconductor companies and RTOs when they visit the UK from 12-19 March 2025.
The delegates come from across Canada and are leaders in areas spanning photonics, optoelectronics, power electronics, compound semiconductors, MEMs, high frequency RF and AI-based smart fabrication. Their expertise is driving transformative impacts in telecommunications, electric vehicles and solar power, providing some exciting opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
The visit is designed to increase awareness of research and development (R&D) strengths and collaborative opportunities available within the UK market. It will focus on building Canada-UK research and co-innovation partnerships in chip design and accelerating the development, manufacture, packaging and applications of compound semiconductors.
The selected Canadian Businesses are looking to pursue joint R&D collaborations, with the goal of future commercialisation, such as:
- validation of Canadian technologies in the UK market
- adaptation of Canadian technologies to meet British and global market needs
- co-development of new products and/or services combining Canadian and UK research and technologies
One of the main objectives of the visit is to help facilitate introductions and potential collaborations that might benefit from support under this programme.
Join us in Edinburgh on March 12, in Newport, South Wales on March 17, or in Cambridge on March 19 to meet the delegates, learn about the strengths of Canada’s semiconductor ecosystem and gain early insights into a future funding opportunity for Canada-UK Collaborative R&D that will launch in the Spring. This is an ideal opportunity to start identifying partnerships through pitches, B2B meetings and more general networking.
*Note: the delegation will also visit the North East Technology Park in County Durham on March 14.
